We would like to share a couple of inspirations that have helped us reach our mission – to become the ultimate accommodation in Phnom Penh.

Location matters – coming home to the suburbs

Younger people tend to enjoy the bustling city life. The Cambodian capital has no shortage of excitement. Shopping centers offering every item imaginable, exquisite international brands, casinos, bars and restaurants sprawl across this megacity.

However, as we mature, we realize that there is pleasure in the calmness of the suburbs and countryside. Rather than drowning in the sounds and glamor of the city, we enjoy coming home to the suburbs, while staying connected with the city.

The location of The Balé Phnom Penh in Bak Khaeng was by design. We want to offer a sense of escape, but remaining close enough to the city for convenient access to everything.

Modernist design and minimalism – luxury in simplicity

Minimalism is more than a trend. It can even be considered a luxury in the modern world. As modern life becomes more complex in an interconnected globe, people turn to essentialism, either as a temporary place of retreat, or as an entirely new lifestyle to adapt.

Luxury, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. Grand entrances and superfluous bedroom decorations used to be what defined luxury, but as now we know that there is luxury in simplicity.

Our resort was designed to alleviate the stresses of daily life, not to demand our guests’ exhausted attention to details that do not matter. We opted for a modern and minimalistic accommodation, even if that is not so common for a resort in Phnom Penh.
